TUTOpen's research focus is on open source software, studying topics related to:

• practices of open source development
• building and studying open source communities
• mining open source repositories
• studying the adoption of open source software

We, also, aim at participating in OS communities to get first hand knowledge from inside. We maintain close connections to industry to understand their needs and problems related to OS software. Besides research, we organize courses and events about OS development. In particular, we organize open source related teaching at Tampere University of Technology.
